BTEC Extended Certificate Art and Design

This course is for students wishing to specialise at a later stage in one specific pathway i.e. Applied & Graphic Design, Fashion/Textile/Surface Design, Interior Design, Architecture, Photography & Film, 3D Design.

This qualification offers a full and engaging programme for students who are clear about their progression area for higher education or employment.

The qualification provides the underpinning knowledge in the Art & Design industry.

This course provides a progression route to Higher Education to related degree programmes or BTEC Higher Nationals.

Our students are going to the university of their choice in London and throughout the UK.

There are 2 approaches when it comes to studying architecture at university.

Option 1:

you could study an A Level programme featuring Maths, Physics and Art. This will help prepare you for the engineering aspects, project management and cultural contexts of studying at university. Although the creative course is called ‘art’ it can be explored within the design pathway.

Option 2:

So long as you already have GCSE Maths & English you could study a full-time programme at level 3 which will broaden your creative problem solving skills. This course is called UAL Diploma in Creative Practice and it will prepare you for university.

Though maths & physics is desirable for completing the full university degree, there are many more types of employment within the built environment which the Creative Practice course could help you progress. Either method, the art dept has a long history of helping students obtain offers from reputable universities from either route described above
