A-Levels at SHC

ASPIRATIONAL PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE

Welcome to APEX, Shooters Hill Sixth Form College's A-Level Programme dedicated to encourage students to Aspire, Perform and Excel.

When you enrol to study A-Levels at Shooters Hill, you join our APEX Programme. This programme has been designed to ensure you have all the support you need, both inside and outside of the classroom, to achieve your goals.

Our staff recognise that progression to university, apprenticeships and employment opportunities requires experiences beyond academic qualifications. We also appreciate the importance of community in supporting you from the moment you first step through our door, so we have a dedicated team of staff, APEX building and facilities to help you achieve these goals.

APEX Benefits

As a part of our APEX Programme, you’ll have access to a wide range of benefits to help you thrive both academically, and as an individual. We will help you to achieve your qualifications and pick up extra knowledge along the way.

The APEX Experience - A-Level Taster Day 28th June

Become an A-Level student for the day!

We know there are a lot of choices, and you want to make sure you make the right choice for you. That’s why we have developed a taster day designed, so you can try out different subjects before you make your final decision.

Still unsure after the day?
No need to worry, you don't need to make a final choice until you enrol in August!

There’s no need to sign up, if you have already made an application for A-levels, you will automatically be sent an invite.

success & achievement

University
Every year we send a high number of our students to universities all over the country.
We have a 100% positive destination rate and a 95% university progression rate.

Careers
We have a dedicated employability team who work with students to secure great work experience opportunities while they are with us, and even better career options when they leave us.

Celebrating Success at SHC
We recognise our students' achievements with a yearly award show. Students, parents and teachers come along to share their success stories and bid farewell to those departing to university.

Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)

As part of the APEX programme, students have the ability to uptake the EPQ as part of an extracurricular activity.

What is the Extended Project Qualification?
The Extended Project is a chance for students to complete a research project on a chosen subject, usually presented in a written report of approximately 5,000 words.

What is the EPQ worth?
The EPQ is equivalent to an AS level, allowing students to further increase their UCAS points.
