March 19th Principal's Update on COVID-19

Principal's update 19th March

Please see important information regarding the closure of Shooters Hill Sixth Form College below.

19th March 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian

In response to the Government announcement yesterday evening, we have decided to close the College until further notice to students at the end of today but will remain open for all staff tomorrow until 1.00pm.  This will enable teachers and support staff to continue preparing and organising communication lines with students, so they can continue to complete their studies remotely and remain in contact with their pastoral welfare tutors.

Staff are available to be contacted in the usual way should you have any concerns.  Students have been shown how to access their work online and have also been given work packs where appropriate.  In case students are still unsure, there is an information guide attached at the bottom of the page detailing how to access their work online and seek support for their mental wellbeing.

Any students receiving free school meals will be emailed a supermarket food e-voucher on a fortnightly basis.  If you have difficulty with this arrangement, please contact the finance office or your child’s tutor who should be able to help.  Please note, these vouchers will not be available during the Easter break, as this is not part of the funding agreement.

Support for safeguarding will continue; the number to ring is now on the website should the need arise.

We will provide regular updates to students and parents as the situation develops.  We hope you and your families are well, that you are responding to the Government advice and that you continue to work in partnership with the College to ensure the best for your child.

Yours sincerely,

Jan Atkinson
Principal
