Overview

This course will not be running for the academic year beginning September 2019, however it may be offered in upcoming academic years. 

Level 3 Performing Arts

This is a full time programme for students who want to progress onto Performing Arts at university.

During this two year practical course you will complete assignments based on realistic workplace situations within the performing arts industry.

The course allows you to develop as a performer focusing on developing various performance disciplines such as; Acting, Voice and Movement. You will be assessed throughout the course in a variety of different ways, building up on your experiences and development as a performer. You will learn all about the performing arts industry and the various employment pathways available within the industry. You will develop both your performance skills and your ability to work well as a team member.

This course provides you with an opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Course Content

The highest course comprises of 13 subject specific units to be completed over a two year period. Each unit is designed to give the students a wide experience of the different elements within the field of Performing Arts. The Extended Diploma is the equivalent in size to 3 A-Levels.

Group Performance Workshops & Developing skills for live performance; will help you to explore the process of making performance and to try outperformance ideas in a practical workshop situation to then focus on the realisation of rehearsed performance work to a live audience.

You will also investigate practitioners’ work, looking at the context of Performance, you will gain a knowledge of the historical, social, political, economic, technical and cultural contexts of the performing arts and gain experience of the major business elements of the performing arts.

This course combines practical and theatrical elements to develop your passion and enjoyment of drama and theatre through
experience and performance. Your study programme will be a diverse learning experience filled with enriching activities, workshops and live theatre visits, that will help to develop your confidence, team building, communication and many other skills.

Units 1, 3, 5 and 7 will be set and marked by Pearson.

Requirements

5 GCSEs grade 9-4, including English.
GCSE drama is desirable, but not essential.
