BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Protective Services (Formerly Public Services)

This course provides an excellent and varied programme, giving a wide variety of careers within the uniformed public services.

A broad range of units will provide an insight into the public services and how they operate. Alongside academic units, adventure training and development of personal and team skills are key to this exciting, demanding and challenging course.

Course Content

Topics Covered

During your course you will cover a range of units including:

  • Outdoor and adventurous expeditions
  • Citizenship, diversity and the public services
  • Land-based outdoor and adventurous activities
  • Command and control

Other units undertaken provide a balanced view of public service requirements, and can include discipline (gaining and understanding of the importance of discipline and investigating the influences upon discipline) as well as leadership & teamwork, command and control, fitness testing, and training and volunteering.

Practicals
As part of your course, students will get the chance to take part in a number of visits to industry locations, exploring first-hand the locations you could be working in and learning the kinds of skills you'll need directly from experts. For our diploma in public services, you'll have the chance to take part in residential trips away from college, which include lots of physical activities and outdoor pursuits.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs grade 9-4, including Maths and English.
