This course is aimed at those who are seeking to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills of learners from an IT practitioner's point of view. There are excellent career opportunities for all those with qualifications in Information Technology.
This course will enable you to progress to both higher education (university) and / or employment in the IT/Business sector.

The course is a 2-year course consisting of 18 Vocational ICT Units which are indicated above. This course involves a reasonable amount of self-directed study and students are expected to work both independently and as part of a team. A variety of teaching and learning methods will be used, including activity based exercises, lectures, demos and case studies. A range of assessment methods will be used. Some units have an external exam set by Edexcel while others are assessed through assignment evidence, based on portfolio evidence. Candidates with Grade 3 in English or Maths will get the opportunity to re-sit these qualifications depending on availability.
Careers
At the end of the course you will be in a position to go on to a higher qualification or into work at a junior level in the IT industry.
A range of higher qualifications will be open to you. The natural progression would be Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Computing, which could then be converted to a Degree in Computing with a third year. Many students study extended
degrees in Business and IT or computer science.
For those students not wishing to progress to university, comprehensive support is provided to help them find alternatives such as employment or apprenticeships. In the past, students have progressed onto employment as systems analysts, network engineers and IT technicians.
