Welcome to Shooters Hill Campus

Welcome from the Head Teacher

Choosing what and where to study post 16 is a big decision. I am very pleased that you are thinking of taking your next step at Shooters Hill Campus as we have a lot to offer our students.

Our results are good and the qualifications our students achieve ensure that they have the widest choice of university and employment opportunities available locally and nationally.

One effect of having such a strong local reputation is that we are now one of the largest 16–19 Academies in England & Wales with nearly 1,300 full-time students. This summer, we expect our best set of results and the highest progression into higher education, apprenticeships and full-time work.

At The Campus we have spent the last 12 years developing a broad curriculum offer that stretches from Entry through to Advanced Level. Our offer is carefully designed to meet the needs and aspirations of a wide range of students. We have dedicated and experienced teachers working in state-of-the art facilities delivering high quality education and training. Our culture of mutual respect and inclusion creates a safe, secure and happy adult learning environment of which we are extremely proud.

Every year large numbers of young people choose The Campus to gain up-to-date skills, knowledge and experience. Our curriculum and wide range of extra-curricular enrichments enable our students to grow in confidence, broaden their interests and effectively prepares them for work and study in the 21st century.

To help you succeed and achieve we have a wide range of student support Services who work alongside our pastoral team to ensure that you and your family have access to the help and information you need to keep you on track and plan for your future.

I encourage you to come and visit The Campus to experience first-hand and our friendly and welcoming atmosphere: where all students are encouraged to aspire and work for the highest possible achievement; where all students have equal access and everyone is treated with fairness and respect.

So, I wish you every success in the choice that you make over where to study in September 2016 and if you join The Campus you can look forward to making new friends, contributing to our vibrant social life whilst acquiring new skills that will help lead you to a positive and rewarding future!

Dear Parent/Carers

We look forward to seeing you at the Parents’ Evening for your daughter/son’s Study Programme as listed above.

We operate a ‘no-appointments’ system where you can turn up at any point and see a teacher for each qualification studied, including their tutor. The system works well without queues building up!

Parents have a vital role to play in supporting each young person’s progress in developing skills, attributes and qualifications toward their goals and aspirations.

Absence from school due to Exceptional Circumstances (Weather, Transport Strike)

Please Remember: If you are unable to get into school due to exceptional circumstances such as bad weather or transport strike, work is always available to you via the Campus network or in learning materials you have already received from your teachers. Please don’t treat this situation as an extra holiday – use the time wisely to catch up (or, better still, to get ahead) on assignments, organising your files, doing revision or for extra reading and additional research into your course topics.

 Student Absence Reporting

Students/Parents of students can report absence from Campus using a number of avenues designed to make this as easy and quick as possible.

Through Email: student.absence@shc.ac.uk

Phone the student absence line: 0208 319 9742

Through Pro-Portal: To do this go to 'Information' then select 'Notification of absence'

Text Messaging Service

Students who are marked absent from a class will receive, along with their main emergency contact, a text message highlighting their absence.
